Kowalowe Skały

Location and atmosphere

Just above the big city of Jelenia Góra, tucked away between a few little waterbasins, lies the little village of Wrzeszczyn. There is only one road leading to the Wrzeszczyn basin dam through the village which consists of some twenty houses. This farm is situated just outside the village, lovingly restored from a ruin, with 32 hectares of grassland for Wrzosówka sheep who are kept for their wool. From the farm there are wide views of the Karkonosze mountains and the Jelenia Góra valley. Nearby are several little waterbassins with their respective dams which provide all kinds of recreation.

Facillities

We have four double rooms with bathrooms and 2 quadruple rooms with bathrooms and rollaway beds. Breakfast is included in the price and dinner can be ordered at extra charge. We organise educational field trips, wool felting workshops called “Zwierzaki Filcaki” (Felt Animals) which have been run since 2008, hands-on bread baking classes and home brewing shows. We can also show you how to prepare delicious venison and lamb. Mountain and city guide is available so that you can fully enjoy your stay. We also rent snowshoes.

Surroundings and activities

Bóbr Valley Landscape Park to the north and the Karkonosze National Park to the south of Wrzeszczyn offer many beautiful hiking and biking trails and in the winter, only 25 kilometers away, you can go skiing in Szklarska Poręba and Karpacz. Siedlęcin Tower is one of the best-preserved examples of such buildings in Central Europe and stands in the neighbouring village of Siedlęcin. Scattered around the Jelenia Góra valley are many splendidly restored palaces like Łomnica Palace and Wojanów Palace. The Izera Mountains and Izera Plateau are famous for their cycle routes.
