The Hondsrug is a nature friends house and campsite situated on the highest northerly point of the Hondsrug, a ridge between the river Drentse Aa and the lake Zuidlaarder Meer.

This renovated house has a beautiful thatched roof. In the sleeping wing of the house you find nine spacious double bedrooms. Under the thatch timbers are (situated) another seven rooms, suitable for families and groups. At the spacious terrace you can enjoy the sun and the pure air in summer. The whole house is non-smoking. Next to the house there is the nature campsite with ten pitches (two caravans at the most), some of them with electricity.

From the forest Noordlaarder Bos you walk easily to the valley of the river Drentse Aa, with wetlands where you will find around 800 kinds of plants. On the ridge of the Hondsrug are the woods of Gieten and Borger. In the surroundings are the large heaths and megalithic monuments. Behind the lake Zuidlaardermeer, on the other side of the river Hunze, you find the long canals of the grand peat moors. You find more than 100 km of bicycle routes here. You can rent bikes on 6 km. When your reservation is on time the bikes are taken by the owner to the house and taken back afterwards. On the Lake Zuidlaardermeer you can join a boat excursion. The city of Groningen offers culture and opportunities to go out.
