A yurt is originally a round, nomadic accommodation built up from natural materials like wood, cotton and wool. The yurts you can rent here are located in an organic orchard on the border of the village Den Burg on the island Texel.

The yurts for guests are somewhat adapted to modern times with a cupola of light and three windows. The yurts have been build from sustainable materials. The wooden floor is about 50 m² and stresses the circular form of this intimate nomadic dwelling. The yurts are fully equipped with wooden furniture, attractive oil lamps, sheep's pelts, wood stove and a wood-fired cast iron cooker, which also heats the water for the shower. This shower and the toilet are outside the yurts in a separate building, designed by the owners. Also there is a fridge. You can lie down on low beds with Japanese futons (mattresses filled with cotton fluff batting) and sheep's wool duvets. On your arrival a supply of chopped firewood is ready for you. Here you have the opportunity to experience the wholesome simplicity and atmosphere of this unique type of dwelling.

The yurts are located on a rural yard that is suitable for children and only ten minutes walking from the centre of Den Burg. In the near surroundings you can play tennis, golf, ride horseback and, of course, ride bicycle and walk. Den Burg is the largest village of the island of Texel. It is not far from the dunes and the beach. Ecomare, centre for environmental education about the Wadden (sand flats) and the North Sea, is located on some kilometres from Texel Yurts.
