Agriturismo Il Casale
Il Casale is located on the sweet hills of Castrocaro Terme, an ancient town of Romagna – Tuscany, among vineyards and olive groves. The historical residence, which dates back to 1300-1400, has been renovated in full respect of the ancient structure and original materials, according to the best standards of environmental sustainability and with maximum use of renewable and clean energy sources. The farm, entirely dedicated to certified organic farming, has a large vegetable garden and an orchard at the service of the farm, an olive grove with some 1500 trees for the production of organic extra virgin olive oil, a cultivation of lavender of 7000 plants which are distilled directly in the farm to obtain organic essential oil and aromatic water.
The farmstay includes accomodation in 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a rich and healthy buffet breakfast with homemade marmelades, bread and cakes. There’s also a small restaurant open at the weekend, with vegetarian and traditional dishes. The price includes: bedlinen and towels, independent heating, air conditioning, free wifi, uncovered parking and use of outdoor whirlpool with the addition of aromatic water of lavender. Italian language classes are available from qualified teacher. Italian and English books available to guests.
You can walk through the olive trees, learn about production and taste local extra virgin olive oil, rent a mountain bike or an electric bike to enjoy the hills, relax in the thermal baths of Castrocaro Terme (at just 3 kms) or visit its ancient fortified Fortress. At 4 kms Terra del Sole with its typical Rennaissance architecture. Some of the most interesting places of the Romagna-Tuscany region are located just a short driving distance of about 30 kms/20 miles: the medieval town of Portico di Romagna and also Rocca San Casciano with the annual Bonfire Feast in April. Also worth visiting: Forlì, only 15 kms away, with the interesting exhibitions of Musei San Domenico and Faenza, one of the most renowned centres for majolica in the world, from which the name Faiences originates. About 30 kms/20 miles away, Ravenna is the city of mosaics, with the magnificent Unesco World Heritage churches. It is close to the Adriatic Riviera where you can just take a daily getaway for a swim or visit the charming towns of Cervia with its saltmarsh Salina Camillone and Cesenatico with its Canal Port designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Bologna, famous for its University and also for its almost 40 km of arcades, is a one-hour drive away, while the incredible Renaissance city of Florence is about 100 kms away.
