Twenty five years ago Cecile and Camilo helped to found De Kleine Aarde, a Dutch centre for ecological awareness and sustainable farming. They later moved with their five children to Spain, where they set up Luz de Vida, now Spain’s biggest distribution centre for organic food. Their latest project is Llemenà, an ecology centre situated on a beautiful, 175 ha property with a large, centuries-old manor house. The centre has a shop which sells Luz de Vida products and an organic restaurant. Fifteen ha of land is dedicated to organic agriculture and permaculture. Chickens, geese and rabbits roam freely on the premises. The project is still under development; the owners are experimenting with various ecological applications such as sustainable building materials and solar energy. They plan to offer courses in organic farming. Five beautiful guest rooms are already complete. The showers and toilets are for common use. There is a small area available for those who wish to pitch a tent. Swimming is permitted in the embalse (reservoir). The rooms are open to groups year round.

There are excellent walks on the grounds themselves, and many marked routes in the surrounding area. For cultural activities, Girona is nearby.
