Farm De Noorderhoeve is situated on the boundary of the North-Dutch dune reserve and the polder. The farm is a mixed, biodynamic firm with dairy cows, sheep, goats, gardening and agriculture. The farmers have done a lot in nature development and they have a small wood, an excellent spot for a picknick. The farm is also a ‘green care farm’ with some workers that have a demand for care and are guided at work by the farmers. The farm is situated on the spot of the former castle Poelenburg. The front house, with a thatched roof, dates from the last century. The small campsite is near the dunes of Schoorl, which are locally 5 km wide and 54 m high.
There are ten pitches for tents and two for caravans. There is a fireplace and there is a fridge available. Also there are special facilities for wheelchair-users. Vegetables and fruits of the season are available. In the farmshop several products like garden herbs, cheese, dairy, meat, eggs and firewood are for sale.
The campsite is an excellent starting point for walks and cycle-tours in the extraordinary dune-area of Schoorl. The sea is about 4 km away. There is a number of museums in Alkmaar, such as the cheese museum, and you can make an excursion in the museum of the Broeker Veiling, the eldest Dutch auction (10 km). In Bergen is Museum Kranenburgh (modern arts). Other suggestions are the Jazzfestival and the arts festival in Bergen and Hargen On Sail.
